Therapy for men, fathers and teenage boys, plainspoken and practical.

Josh was born and raised in Charlotte. After a psychology degree at Northeastern he spent years in the western mountains of North Carolina as a wilderness therapy field guide, rising to Master Field Instructor and developing a conviction about what nature, empowerment and honest communication can do for adolescent boys. Graduate school followed, then work at a sober living facility, a VA substance abuse program, and a fatherhood group for young men in a residential job training program. That last piece showed him the gap he now builds his practice around: the shortage of real mental health support for men, and specifically for dads.
How Josh works
Josh's sessions are collaborative and practical, focused on what is happening now, what is getting in the way, and what you want to change. He draws on CBT, ACT and emotion-regulation strategies, and when trauma is part of the story he moves at a pace that stays steady. Outdoor, nature-based sessions may be available when clinically appropriate.
