For men
Therapy for Men in Charlotte, NC
Straightforward, skill-based, and on your terms. If you are used to pushing through on your own, therapy can still fit how you operate, it just gives you better tools than pushing through.

Is this for you?
- You feel constantly on edge, overwhelmed or burned out
- Anxiety or persistent worry is affecting your work or your sleep
- Anger, irritability or shutting down is causing problems at home
- You are going through a breakup, divorce, new fatherhood or a major change
- Motivation and confidence have quietly drained away
- Past experiences keep showing up as stress reactions or avoidance
- You want better communication and boundaries without becoming a different person

Why most men wait too long
Men are consistently taught to handle it, stay quiet and push through. It works until it does not, and the bill usually arrives as anger, withdrawal, sleep problems, drinking, or a partner saying something has to change.
Josh Gorelick built his practice around this gap. Before private practice he spent years as a wilderness therapy instructor and primary therapist for adolescent boys, worked in a sober living facility and a VA substance abuse program, and ran a fatherhood group for young men in a residential job training program. He is direct, unpretentious, and not interested in making you talk about your childhood before you are ready.

How sessions run
First session: we clarify what you want to be different and identify the patterns, stressors and strengths already in play. You leave with initial tools and a roadmap for the next few sessions.
After that it is skill-building, practice and problem-solving at a pace that respects your schedule, with periodic check-ins on what is working. Some men come for a focused six to twelve sessions; others stay longer for deeper patterns.
Outdoor, nature-based sessions may be available when clinically appropriate and the weather cooperates.
What changes
What clients tend to notice
- A nervous system that is not permanently at threat level
- Responses instead of reactions, at home and at work
- Energy and motivation that are not borrowed from tomorrow
- Relationships that improve because you changed something specific

Therapy for Men: questions we are asked
Do I have to talk about everything right away?
No. You control the pace. We start where you are and focus on what feels most important and most manageable.
What if I am not sure therapy will help?
Common, and reasonable. Start with a brief consultation to clarify goals, ask questions and decide whether it is a fit. No commitment required.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, with the standard legal and ethical limits, primarily safety-related situations. Your therapist will review confidentiality explicitly in the first session.
How long does therapy take?
It depends on your goals. A focused stretch of six to twelve sessions is common. Others prefer ongoing support for deeper patterns and long-term growth.
Is there a male therapist available?
Yes. Josh Gorelick, MS, LCMHC, specializes in therapy for men, fathers and teenage boys.
