Meet Kelly Roberson, MA, LCMHCA, LPCA, NCC
At Charlotte Therapy Associates we are passionate about helping individuals and couples build healthier relationships, navigate life's challenges, and create meaningful, lasting change. Kelly Roberson is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina, Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in South Carolina, and a National Certified Counselor. Kelly provides a warm, supportive environment where clients can feel understood, encouraged, and empowered to move forward.
Kelly works with older teens (16+), adults, and couples, with a particular passion for helping couples strengthen communication, rebuild connection, and better understand the patterns that may be creating distance, conflict, or frustration in their relationships. Whether clients are preparing for marriage, navigating life transitions together, recovering from relational hurts, or simply seeking a stronger connection, Kelly believes healthy relationships can be one of life's greatest sources of support, growth, and fulfillment.
Helping Couples and Individuals Create Meaningful Change
Relationships can be complicated. Many people find themselves caught in recurring patterns—having the same arguments, feeling misunderstood, struggling to communicate their needs, or wondering why connection feels so difficult despite their best efforts. Kelly helps clients slow down, gain insight into these patterns, and develop practical tools that foster healthier communication, emotional connection, and lasting change. At times, it may be necessary to forgo couples counseling and pursue individual sessions. These sessions will focus on supporting your personal healing, growth, and empowerment as an individual.
In addition to couples counseling, Kelly works with individuals experiencing:
- Controlling or unhealthy relationship dynamics
- Anxiety
- Adult ADHD
- Depression and low self-confidence
- Adjustment issues regarding college, career shifts, loss, divorce, or retirement
- Acute Stress and PTSD
- Exploring life purpose and meaning
Kelly enjoys helping clients move beyond simply understanding their struggles and toward creating meaningful change in their daily lives and relationships.
A Collaborative and Personalized Approach
Kelly believes that counseling should feel like a partnership. Every client brings a unique story, and therapy is tailored to meet individual needs, strengths, and goals. Her approach integrates evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Existential Therapy, and IFS-informed interventions.
She also incorporates practical tools for communication, emotional regulation, relationship growth, and self-awareness. Drawing from her background in both counseling and the creative arts, Kelly may incorporate therapeutic art, journaling, somatic interventions, and reflective exercises when appropriate to help clients gain insight and process emotions in new ways.

Kelly earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with High Distinction from Liberty University (2022) and a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design (1995) working many years in print advertising as well as a professional artist.
